Who we are
Welcome to our little village!
We’re so passionate about everything early childhood and family-related that in 2025, we - Shannon and Leonie - officially formed the Learning Nest Co.
Having six children between us and many years of experience in education, we truly see the value of well-designed early childhood programs. We understand the importance of families, and the growth that comes with the parenting journey too.
We recognise that the parenting landscape is constantly evolving, and we work alongside our families to identify the support they may need and how we can make that possible - all while educating little people in a fun and nurturing environment.
It takes a village - and we’re so glad you’re part of ours!
What sets us apart?
At the heart of our business are two directors who are not only qualified educators with tertiary degrees, but also have over a decade each of hands-on experience working with children. That deep, practical knowledge shapes everything we do - from how we plan our sessions to how we connect with each child and their families.
Every part of our program is designed with purpose - age-appropriate, developmentally meaningful, and grounded in best practice. We operate with clear, thorough policies and procedures - not because we’re required to, but because we believe families deserve consistency, safety, and transparency. It’s our way of setting a high standard and creating a space that runs with the care and structure we would want for our own children.
We’re fully certified in First Aid and CPR, hold current Working With Vulnerable People cards (which can be sighted on request), and - just as importantly - we’re mums ourselves. We get it: the trust it takes to leave your child in someone else’s care, and how important it is that they feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s why The Learning Nest Co is a purpose built service where children can thrive, and families feel right at home.
For parents and caregivers, The Learning Nest Co is the child and family centre that delivers flexible, supportive care arrangements because every household has unique needs. Unlike traditional care models, The Learning Nest Co offers nurturing, play-based learning with educational benefits and a strong sense of community.
Our philosophy
Meet the Team
With six children under six between them, Shannon and Leonie find managing busy, energetic groups to be second nature - they truly understand the joys (and chaos) of early childhood!

Director & Co-FounderShannon brings over 15 years teaching experience working with young children, and many more coaching young dancers. She has a special passion for storytelling and creating fun, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity. She enjoys play-based learning so much, her weekend hobbies look suspiciously like her workday ones!

Director & Co-FounderWith a passion for everything education, Leonie has been working in the education space since 2009. Having worked with people of all ages - from babies through to late adulthood - her interests are education in the early years and opportunities for family and community support. As a mum to two young boys, she sees the value in having access to a service which supports children’s curiosity for learning, and an opportunity for parent self-care too!
